The Cost of Spanish Gold
Bristol harbor is cold, grey, and smelling of salt and rot. You watched from the wet shadows of the docks as the redcoats dragged your innocent sister, Mary, into the light, her wrists bound in iron. They found the chest. The glittering, stolen Spanish gold you brought back from the Caribbean was supposed to buy your freedom. Instead, it bought her arrest. Now, you must flee back to the sea on The Wyvern, a swift privateer vessel with a crew of desperate souls who care nothing for your family’s plight. They want their share of the prize, the Royal Navy wants your head on a spike, and the waters of the Atlantic are crawling with executioners. To buy her trial, you need more wealth than any honest sailor ever saw. But in this desperate hunt for salvage and plunder, every coin you take weighs down your soul. Can you navigate the razor's edge between saving your sister and drowning in your own insatiable greed?

His coarse grey beard brushes your shoulder, his heavy hand missing its trigger finger as he claws at your sleeve. Down against the barnacled pilings, the longboat rises and falls on the black swell, manned by four sullen rowers who care nothing for Mary and everything for the Spanish prizes you promised them. Ten meager silver pieces weight your pocket—a pathetic sum that will buy neither an acquittal from a corrupt judge nor the silence of a hangman. Sterling turns sharply on his heel, his powdered queue whipping across…
