The bustling air of Missouri fills your lungs with the scent of damp earth and wood smoke. Wagon wheels clatter against stone paths as families haggle for salt pork and flour.

You are the one who reloads the wagon and calls the next step as the wide country opens before you. A low trail of dust marks the path ahead, each bend offering beauty and danger in equal measure. Tall grass shivers with hidden water and hungry life; river mouths wink and roar; storms arrive without warning and travelers come with stories that could save you or undo you. The air tastes of cedar and coal and the constant possibility that everything can change in an instant. You bear hopes that fracture under a single misstep and the faces of those who trust you to keep them moving. Each morning becomes a negotiation between stubborn courage and hard bargains; each evening lists what you have held and what the land has taken. A fork lifts on the horizon, and the way you turn now will set the course for everyone behind your wheels. Step forward and make it matter.

Ruts from earlier wagons cut westward through the earth, dark and deep, like scars that have not healed. A trader with a sunburned face leans against a crate and watches you size up the goods. He names his prices with a smile too practiced to trust. The heavier outfit would ride slower and cost dearly, but it could keep your party alive when luck turns sour. The leaner outfit would leave money in your purse and get you rolling sooner, but every broken axle and empty barrel would bite harder. The oxe…
