A Comedy of Catacombs
The salt air of Palermo clings to the damp walls of the catacombs, cold and smelling of centuries of earth.
Palermo, 1194. A city of shimmering golden mosaics, shifting empires, and—in your case—a spectacularly botched banquet. When a goblet of poisoned wine meant for a corrupt baron accidentally ends up in the wrong hands, you and your childhood best friend are forced to run for your lives. Your only sanctuary is the cool, shadowed depths of the Palermo catacombs. To escape the city guards, you must masquerade as visiting high nobility, navigating a web of aristocratic gossip and dangerous court intrigue. But as you squeeze into the shadows together, the ten years of silent, agonizing pining you've harbored finally boils over. A single whispered confession of love threatens to shatter your carefully constructed cover. Can you navigate the dizzying maze of Sicilian politics, outrun a murder charge, and survive the terrifying realization that your oldest friend might actually love you back? Or will your sudden honesty be the thing that brings your whole world crashing down?

Tell me again why we didn't just explain the wine was an accident?" "Because the baron was already foaming at the mouth," you reply, pulling them closer into the recess of an alcove as the heavy clatter of guard boots echoes from the tunnel entrance. The proximity is dizzying. The warmth of their breath brushes your neck, and suddenly, the terrifying reality of the city guard seems entirely secondary to the pounding of your heart. Before you can stop yourself, the truth slips out: "And because I couldn't bear the thought of a world where I never got to tell you how I feel." They freeze. The silence…
