The iron gate of Stonehelm shrieks as it gives way, revealing a throat of jagged basalt that reeks of sulfur and old blood.

You are the senior knight of a small company raised to a single, terrible purpose: descend Stonehelm, slay the dragon that curls in its belly, and claim the crystal scrying ball that beats with a light like a second sun. The mountain is carved with old iron traps, bitter winds, and ruins that remember older wars. Every step deeper asks you to choose who you protect, what you sacrifice, and which promises hold when terror arrives. You tread a world of ash and cold by day and whispering stones by night. The dragon is not a simple monster — it talks of bargains and remembers names. Its hoard includes more than gold: secrets that could unmake a king or save a village. Your choices will ripple outward: a saved hamlet, a burned bridge, a life bartered for victory. You will face cunning, cruelty, and the quiet stain that power leaves on those who reach for it. Triumph will demand more than steel; sometimes wisdom or mercy will be the blade that wins. Fail, and the mountain will claim you and the crystal’s light will remain hidden beneath Stonehelm forever.

The entrance to Stonehelm looms like a jagged wound in the mountainside. You stand before the iron-bound doors, shivering in the biting gale while your company huddles against the freezing rock. The air is thick with the sulfurous tang of a beast that has not left its lair for centuries, and deep within the cavern, a rhythmic, rumbling vibration echoes against your boots. One of your scouts, a grim veteran named Kael, holds his lantern steady, though his knuckles are white with strain. Your party is already exhausted. The trek through the spiked pass has bled your resources, and the wounded knight, Elara, is shivering violently from an infection creeping up her arm. Every heartbeat wasted on this threshold is a heartbeat the dragon spends readying its ambush. You have the heavy iron battering ram you dragged from the ruins, but the noise required to smash through the oak and iron will trigger a collapse of the rotten ceiling above. To the left of the main door, a ventilation shaft large enough to squeeze through gapes wide. It would allow for a silent entry, but your gear and heavy armor would have to be shed to fit, leaving you vulnerable if the wyrm senses your intrusion immedia…
